If there is one thing Amazon doesn't need to worry about - it's the lawyers, they got plenty of them!
Plus, even if they charge a bit more to recoup the costs - they have huge advantage in that a) they are already there and b) they aren't cloud n00bs with one freshly baked data center close only to the US :)

I am badly in need for a new iDevice. My last device was the iPod Touch 1st Generation. I am planning to get both the iPhone and iPad, but will only get one now and wait for the other one in the next update.
So which is better now?
Get iPhone 4 White, and wait for iPad 3�
or
Get iPad 2, and wait for iPhone 5?
I am leaning towards the first option because the iPhone 4 feels like a revolution while the iPad 2 feels like a small upgrade and I wish it has a retina screen. But on the other hand, the iPhone 4 feels old now and iPad 2 just released.

I can only suggest you look at the history of other nations, it happens quite often that complete economic systems collapse. Try Mexico, Argentina, Germany or any war torn nation. In these nations those with gold maintained their wealth, those without had to start from scratch.
Its insurance, just in case...for example when all the things I listed happen at once like they are in the USA right now.

That doesn't say anything remotely similar to "envisioned by apple.". In fact, it suggests the opposite - intel thought of it, and Apple helped "bring it to market."

If most items in the iTunes Store are between $1 and $5, and you happened to accidentally buy the one that was $1,000, that could be considered an unreasonable accident because there would have been no confirmation that the credit card was present at the time of purchase. Let the credit card company deal with it if the merchant won't accept the excuse.

What did you think surely? I looked up Jamba's strawberries wild nutritional value and it about equals the mdondalds one. That's not bad considering everything out of mcdonalds is scary high in calories.
I really liked it. I couldn't really taste the banana very much, but that's not a big deal. I'll never buy anything else there (besides coffee), but I'll totally buy that again.
I got a small, but I think the medium size is the sweet spot.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?

Almost every residential building in NYC has 1/4" to 1/2" (diameter) copper water pipes for their city water service... Even skyscrapers are mostly fitted with similar sized pipes for 99% of it's living spaces.. So, why is NYC paying billions of dollars to have a 24 feet diameter water pipe constructed to bring water down from the reservoirs or why build a 12+ lane super-highway when a car is only one lane in width?

It can literally have EVERYTHING and ANYTHING plugged into it.... Well put it this way... if something can be engineered to operate in a PCI slot... It'll work just fine as a TB device.

VMWare is going to smoke Parallels when it comes out. I can�t wait. I'm still a little bit miffed though that no one has gotten native partition support so we can use the same partition while virtualizing or dual booting.

When you think about it, the PSP could (perhaps should) have been the coolest thing since sliced bread with all its features and even movies and Sony's music service tailor-made for it. So what happened? Sony's atrocious proprietary scheme has made it a shell of what it could have been. I have a feeling MS hasn't learned any lessons since the "Works for Sure" campaign became something of a running joke.
Nintendo could have done the same thing with the DS Lite. There are addons for web, music, and video for this device and the battery life would still be on par with iPods...They, probably wisely, decided to keep the price of their device down and provide these features as accessories. Not everyone needs their portable device to do everything but the iPod, PSP, and DS Lite all have the potential for being brilliant convergence devices. Microsoft's talents in this area are still untested. The cellular companies would like their phones to be ultimate convergence devices but the are too greedy (at least in America) for their own good and most of the devices come off as buggy and overpriced...It is interesting, however, that Microsoft is willing to put their Xbox brand (which is pretty well accepted) in the untested market...

A bit harsh, aren't you? They're supposedly integrating better search features into the next version of Pages precisely to improve the researching component of writing. So it's not like I'm the only one who thinks that Pages needs more to better compare to Word. As it stands, I'll give Pages a shot if I need to do something fancier than writing for MFA workshops.
Plus, I save a couple of bucks.
Pages isn't Word. It doesn't try to be Word. For those of us who use Pages every day, this is actually a good thing.
As for being harsh, it seems like every time a thread on subject gets started, someone says Pages is only really suitable for newsletters, and not for "serious" writing. I find that most of the people who say this haven't gotten much past the template selection window. They see all those newsletter and flier templates and assume that this all Pages is good for. They've probably never created a template of their own and so are missing one of Pages' most powerful features.
Also, it almost never fails in these threads that someone says they'd be using Pages today if it only had certain features that it already has. I don't know that it's being "harsh" to correct the record, but if that's what it is, then I guess that's what I am...

I am excited to hear that the CPUs released in January will finally be making it to a Mac in May. I totally understand the delay. It doesn't make much sense to anyone but Intel to release mid range chips months before the high end ones so Apple has little choice but to hold back the iMac lest it hurt sales of Mac Pros and MacBook Pros.
I'm not excited by the idea that the iMacs may continue to ship with 16:9 mirrors. Apple is a premium brand, the least they could do is offer true anti-reflective glass (not the fuzzy matte finish that used to adorn displays).
I'm not sure there's anything we can do about the 16:9 issue. The entire LCD industry seems determined to give us screens optimized for entertainment rather than information gathering or document production. Maybe what we really need is a display that can rotate 90� and still look good. Then I could stick a pair of 9:16's side by side.
